Liberation, Empathy, Oneness and Who We Really Are

Richard Lang has been a psychotherapist, a dance teacher, has taught tai chi for thirty years - and has retired from doing all these things. 

In 1970 before he began any of those activities, he attended a workshop with Douglas Harding, author of On Having No Head, and discovered who he really was.  We discuss what is meant by that in this episode.

The method Harding developed is called the Headless Way, a method for directly becoming aware of your innermost self.  Within a year or two Richard was giving workshops himself and, more than fifty years later, is still on the job.

Richard set up the Shollond Trust twenty five years ago, a UK charity for sharing the Headless Way.  It has an extensive website.  As well as writing books, making videos and giving workshops, Richard facilitates online groups where the experience of our true nature is shared and celebrated.

I invited Richard to join us for the first episode on this month’s theme ‘Big Ideas’ - because the whole question of who we really are, and the matter of how we perceive the world - are very big ideas - with the power to affect everything and all aspects of our lives.  Richard’s work with Harding’s Headlessness method is truly groundbreaking.  I am a deep admirer of his dedication to bringing this particular Big Idea to thousands of people worldwide.  Richard has great heart, generosity and selfless humility in his mission.  His experience, perspective and insight are of great value - especially for leaders today.
