As many of you may know, Italian unification came in stages as did changes to the borders of the nation. In the north of Italy, mainly in the areas of Trentino & Alto Adige, you would have found some groups of people who were subjects of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and people who lived in areas known as Yugoslavia. In this episode of the Italian Citizenship Podcast, hosts Marco Permunian, an Italian attorney, along with video podcaster and dual-citizen expat, Rafael Di Furia discuss these very unique circumstances that some individuals with ancestry that were connected to these areas may want to take into consideration when making a claim for Italian citizenship.
