This movie thought to piggyback on the success of Gladiator. Their mistake was waiting 16 years and making a pretty uninspiring movie. The religious stuff is given the backseat and the chariot race tries to be exciting but never gets there. And thus you are not left with much to chew on. The much better 1959 version has an incredible homosexuality implied backstory that this movie just skips to its detriment.

Hate Watching is the show that slays the blockbusters one at a time.

They closed our Rite Aid. Went in their last week and were told they would be closing in a week. I liked our Rite Aid, it was always empty and that was great. But it's strange to have a big chain store close in the heart of LA. It feels like new economic forces are coming to bear on our lives and it is a little scary. I'm not sure what it means. Most of my life, the world has just expanded but here there is a contraction. An isolated case? Perhaps. But perhaps not. We will see.
