A Pho Love Story by Loan Le
Both Bao and Linh are the children of Vietnamese immigrants. Both of their parents' own a Pho restaurant and are in stiff competition with each other. That means they don't want Bao and Linh associating with each other, even though they go to the same high school. One night though, Bao sees Linh, utterly dejected, sitting in the alley behind her parents' restaurant and does what no one has done before. He crossed the street and offers to help her. That one small act turns into many more and it soon become clear, there is more keeping Bao and Linh's families apart than just the restaurants!
Recommended for grades 7 and up.
