It plays many roles in the maintenance of life and health and is often the first indication or sign of problems with other organ systems. It helps regulate temperature, immune defense, and even vitamin production. Yet we are most concerned with making it “look pretty” or covering it up.

The global skin care market is worth hundreds of billions of dollars. But nearly half of that comes from antiaging skin care focused on only 10% of the surface area of the skin (the face and décolleté). What about the rest of the skin?
