This week we’re looking at how dress codes can be used to demand you wear certain clothing at work and how your employment rights can help you to challenge this.
We look at the differences for you, between a legal dress code requirement or a workplace dress code policy.
And lastly, we take a look at what action you can take, if you feel you are unfairly affected by a dress code policy.
Our take aways from this week’s episode are that you are not frightened off from looking at any workplace dress code, if it makes you feel uncomfortable. Although your employer has a legal duty to provide you with protective clothing, which you must wear to do your job - beyond this your employer can have a policy about what you wear, but that policy cannot unnecessarily impose on your legal protected characteristic rights.
