We go international this episode with Tone Of Voice Orchestra’s Trinelise Væring. Her family enjoyed music when she was growing up, but it wasn’t a career choice. She didn’t even think about it after recording two jazz albums while in school, studying architecture! But somehow she wound up marrying a musician. Once she finally made the decision to focus on music, she decided she needed to find her own voice; and it wasn’t going to be in jazz. So she completely changed her musical style, but lost a portion of her audience when she did it. It was also at this point that she decided to write exclusively in her native Danish. Speaking of Danish, I do a pretty good job butchering the language in this episode, including getting several definitions wrong. That leads us to Trinelise’s latest project Tone Of Voice Orchestra. She tells us the difference between her husband’s fantasy of what the band would be and the reality of what it is. Somehow, they managed to get all ten members together to record this album during the pandemic. And they’ll be releasing even more, later on this year.
