Patrick Süskind nació en 1949, en Ambach. Es un escritor y guionista alemán, hijo del escritor expresionista Wilhelm Emanuel Süskind. Su primera obra fue el monólogo dramático ‘El contrabajo’, estrenado en Munich en 1981. Es autor de ‘La paloma’, ‘La historia del señor Sommer’ y de ‘Un combate y otros relatos’. ‘El perfume’, publicada en 1985 es su primera novela.
