In this episode of Life Lessons, Gin and Sheri talk with Ellen Casey. As a young woman in the 1970’s, Ellen was faced with the news that she would likely never be able to conceive a child, due to a prior medical complication. But she persisted and took a previously uncharted path, becoming a mother to Colorado’s first “test tube baby,” as it was referred to then. She has gone on to write a memoir about her experience and is with us today to share with us a bit about her history, her experience with in vitro fertilization, and how her journey was an instrumental part of laying the foundations for the options women have today.
