Mike Leonard (The Bleeding Hearts, The Magnolias)
This is a really cool episode. My guest today is Mike Leonard. He plays guitar for The Magnolias, but that’s not what we’re discussing today. Almost 30 years ago, Mike was in a band called The Bleeding Hearts with Bob Stinson of The Replacements. Mike tells me how he got into music and how The Bleeding Hearts formed. He tells me about how he got Bob to join the band. It wasn’t exactly easy. But once he did, he went all in, including moving in with Mike. That, in part, led to the band getting time in the studio and label interest. But soon after the sessions were over, trouble started brewing. Mike talks about all of this, and why it took 29 years for the album to come out. Check out the album on Bar None Records, especially if you like straight up rock and roll. Pick it up from Bar None or wherever you get music. There may be some vinyl left. Follow us @PerformanceAnx on Instagram & Twitter.
