Season 3 Podcast 105 The Last Days Pt X The Resurrection
The Last Days Pt X, The Resurrection
Most Christians, I think it is safe to say, believe in a literal resurrection. The model is Christ himself. When Christ came forth from the tomb, he looked like his former self. He talked with the saints. He ate fish with the apostles.
6 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. 38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. 40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat? 42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. 43 And he took it, and did eat before them. (Luke 24:36-43)
Christ was the first to be resurrected.
23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. (1 Corinthians 15:23)
Immediately after the resurrection of Christ, many saints rose from the dead.
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. (Matthew 27:52-53)
Everyone will be resurrected.
15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust. (Acts 24:15)
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. (John 5:25-29)
There is a first resurrection and a second resurrection. The righteous shall be the first to be resurrected.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
Tremendous blessings shall be given to those who come forth in the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. (Revelation 20:6)
All resurrected bodies are perfect in every way. There will be no sickness, no disease, no deformities, no bald heads, no wrinkled flesh, no infirmities. The differences in the resurrection, however, will be demonstrated in light, knowledge, and power. We can actually improve the quality of our resurrection according to the laws of God we live on earth.
