Episode 91: Moonstruck (1987)

This week at The Film Club we're kicking off our Rage Cage Month that pays tribute to the man, the myth, the legend Nicolas Cage! To start the month off we're discussing the 80's Academy Award Winning Romantic Dramedy, Moonstruck. The film tells the story of Loretta who after being widowed for seven years decides to settle down with Johnny someone she cares about but is not in love with. When a family emergency takes her fiancee out of the country she is tasked to invite his estranged brother to their wedding. Upon meeting her fiancee's wild eccentric brother Ronny it's clear that these two people were really meant for each other. Loretta and Ronny begin having an affair but this affair is threatened when Loretta's father figures out what's happening. But her father's secrets are exposed when she discovers he's having an affair of his own. With so much turmoil occurring Johnny returns to Loretta and she must now tell him the truth. Will Loretta honor her promise to Johnny? Or will Loretta follow her heart and have a life with Ronny? Join us as we dive into the world of Moonstruck.
