Join us as we chat with Sensei Jean Frenette, founder and technical director of Club Karate Boucherville, and has been practicing karate-do for more than 40 years. Sensei Frenette was crowned five-time world champion, three-time North American champion and twelve-time Canadian champion, and won more than 30 international titles. He has authored seven books and more than fifteen videos on martial arts. Sensei Frenette is a student of sensei Chuck Merriman since 1980, and in addition, has made more than twenty stays in Okinawa to train under the technical direction of master Eiichi Miyazato, himself a student of Chojun Miyagi, founder of Goju-ryu karate-do.
In addition to teaching, sensei Jean Frenette works to promote karate on the international scene by giving demonstrations and seminars all over the world. He organized events that attracted up to 15,000 spectators. He is also involved in film through his business, On Set Stunts, a stunt specialist, where he trains actors and stunt performers, in addition to planning, choreographing and coordinating the production of action and fight scenes. He has worked on several high intensity productions including 300, Mirror Mirror, Immortals, Quantico, Rupture and Nitro Rush.
