This morning I woke up feeling fine. I went out to my living room to sit before the Lord in the stillness of the very early morning. I had a good time of prayer and then read my Bible. As the morning was wearing on I started to feel that sense of my own weakness. As the hours progressed I felt as if a dark cloud came over me. I then started to think about the touch of Jesus Christ.
Thoughts of how God had touched certain people in the Bible. How everyone He touched in fact was at their lowest point in life. Some were at the end of their lives from disease. Others were falling down under their own human weakness and feelings of being worthless and insignificant. There were those who wanted to die out of depression and losses.
Every person that God touched was strengthened in heart, mind and body. Those who were ordinary people like us, were literally touched by the hand of Jesus Christ and were given new lives. Even in the Old Testament, men and women were touched by God in tender, intimate ways. And every time, new life was breathed into them.
Perhaps today you are in that place of feeing insignificant and having no worth. If that is you, then you need a touch from Jesus Christ. Something always happens when He gives that much needed touch. All it takes is one touch from Him, and darkness goes out, and His light and life flood in.
The One who holds the seven stars in His right hand, laid that same hand upon John who "fell down at His feet as though dead." Then Jesus told him immediately, Fear not! Isn't it beautiful that there was no rebuke at all for their human weakness? And there never is a rebuke for our weaknesses either. He comforts. He lays His right hand on the soul that is wounded from toil, weariness, and fears of every kind. And the one He touches is as if that person were the only soul in all the universe. Jesus will touch you, even now.
“Prayer bends the omnipotence of heaven to your desire. Prayer moves the hand that moves the world.” ― Charles H. Spurgeon
