In 1969 Helle Nielsen, who was a 21 year old stewardess met Richard Crafts waiting for a flight. Richard was a pilot and the two fell in love. The two were married in 1979 and had 3 children, but the marriage was rocky. Richard was abusive to Helle and soon Helle started looking into divorce attorneys and hired a private investigator to follow Richard.
November 18, 1986, Helle's friends dropped her off at home after a long flight and that was the last time anyone saw her alive.
The private investigator she had hired informed police he thought Richard was involved and they did a search and learned he had recently purchased a wood chipper and a chainsaw.
