"I have been studying the effect of both words, 'Yes' and 'No' on the nervous system for many years," says today's special guest, Vivien Schapera MA. "And there's a distinct difference."
"When you say or experience a whole hearted 'Yes,' it's a kinesthetic experience, meaning we can actually feel it as a sensation throughout our bodies."
Vivien Schapera M.A., trained in Clinical Psychology and with personal experience in recovery from narcissistic abuse, is co-director of Alexander Technique of Cincinnati, where she trains teachers of the Alexander Technique, which is a hands-on practice that retrains the neuromuscular system. She is also Founder of FourWinds Academy for the Healing Arts & Sciences and holds a Master's Degree in Psychology.
The Alexander Technique is a wonderful reorganization of psychophysical dynamics that feels more relaxing than a massage, yet is a kinesthetic lesson that teaches mind/body wholeness. This technique is a way to feel better, and move in a more relaxed and comfortable way; the way nature intended. An Alexander Technique teacher helps you to identify and lose the harmful habits you have built up over a lifetime of stress and learn to move more freely.
Vivien Schapera has worked in private practice, as a Teacher and Energy Healer, since 1983. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Vivien moved to the USA in 1991. She obtained her degrees in Psychology at the University of Cape Town (M.A. 1984) and completed her training in the Alexander Technique at the Constructive Teaching Center in London.
