We’ve been together for a few months now. Starting next week, we’re going to slow this down a bit. The first few months involved a great deal of sharing, resources, and focus. Those are all good things. Starting next Monday, I want to use this time to really focus more in on you and connecting you to Scripture and the Holy Spirit—to help offer a chance to connect with where Jesus Christ is leading your heart. So…Monday will be the first of many Mondays where we spend time in Scripture using a variation of something called Lectio Divina. That is a fancy term which simply means “Divine Reading.” I’ll use the lectionary (to help us cover the breadth of the Gospels). We’ll spend Mondays reading and contemplating the scripture…and then we’ll have a 2nd episode mid-week which will offer a short devotion based on that Gospel story. At times we will use the Psalm, Epistle, or Old Testament passage for the week, but most will be from The Gospels. I’m excited to start the next chapter of Kids Ministry Coffee Break. I’d love your feedback too, so, if you get a few minutes, please leave review with a sentence or two about what you find valuable about this time. If you leave a 5-start review, it will help other people find this podcast. If you leave a sentence or two, it will help people know what this is all about in an easier way. So…thank you so much for listening these past few months. Thank you for the inspiration it has given me and all of us at The Sunday School Store. Thank you for helping us grow this connection. Most of all…thank you for serving in ministry. Thank you for answering the call. Now…today’s break. It’s called, “Be Still and Know…” There’s a great Psalm which gives us the famous sentence, “Be Still and Know that I am God.” There are times when we get overwhelmed. There are times when we get excited with joy…or get excited with anger or fear or a number of other things. As ministers, we often feel like we are supposed to have the answers for others and answers for ourselves. Sometimes…there are no answers. There just aren’t. Trying to force answers rarely leaves anyone feeling better about the situation or question at hand. Sometimes…we just need to be still… and know that God is God. I invite you to sit with that today. When this episode ends… When you get a few minutes later today… When you get a moment of quiet… Just say to yourself… Be still And then do your best to become still. Quiet your setting Quiet your mind Quiet your heart Quiet your phone And once you are still… Focus your mind and heart on the words, “And Know that I am God.” Re-focusing in on those words, “Be still and know that I am God” until you begin to settle into the stillness and knowledge of knowing that God is God. Let that sacred place become a refuge for you in whatever way you need today. Reside in that space for a while…and then…when you feel it’s time…get back to your day. It’s good every now and again…to just be still…and know that God is God. God’s got this—whatever that means for you in the moment. So…remember that simple and powerful truth…and let it bear fruit. Message brought to you be Rev. Joseph Sanford of Sanford Curriculum (Student ministry resources available on The Sunday School Store written by he and Lauren Sanford). Music by The Muse Maker
