Could the Trail Blazers swing a trade for Kevin Durant? Probably not. No. Okay but let's have some fun anyway. Damian Lillard did his part in starting the KD to Portland fantasy so let's wade into the deep waters of the hypothetical and talk about righting a wrong from the 2007 draft.
First how did this get started and is Kevin Durant even likely to be on the trade market. A messy Brooklyn Nets organization and an Instagram post from Dame got everyone riled up over the past couple days.
But there's still some hurtles. Durant is under contract for the next four seasons and the Blazers would have to get creative to make the money work. They'd also have to give up A LOT to get Kevin Freaking Durant on the roster. It's a long shot. But this city loves long distance shooting.
The show closes with a reminder about the relative value of draft picks and spare parts in trades. Every team values things a little bit different and as we head into the offseason it's a reminder that something like a future first round pick can be valued very differently depending on the motivations of any given organization.
