6/27: Roe v. Wade ruling sends shock waves through all aspects of American life. The most extensive gun control legislations is now federal law.
Here is where America stands this morning on abortion rights, following that monumental Supreme Court ruling. Women in at least 8 states can no longer get a legal abortion. Many more states are expected to outlaw or severely restrict the procedure in the months ahead. That would establish an abortion-free zone stretching for thousands of miles in the middle of the country. Meanwhile, the latest CBS News poll shows a majority of americans -- 59% -- disapprove of the high Court's decision. The high court's ruling on Roe upends nearly 50 years of legal precedent. That raises a lot of legal questions. President Biden is under pressure from his own party to respond strongly to the Supreme Court's action. This morning, he is overseas for the latest G7 summit in Germany. In other news, the U.S. Is ready to send more military aid to Ukraine. Yesterday, for the first time in three weeks, Ukraine's capital was struck by Russian missiles. Here in the U.S., the most extensive gun control legislation in nearly three decades is now federal law.
