In Chinese mythology, the Fuzanglong dragon is regarded as a mythological creature that guards hidden treasures, both natural and man made. It's also an underworld dragon that protects buried treasure from various sources. According to legend, these dragons can form volcanoes when they rise above the ground to report to the heavens. Several light reliefs and tiles depict the creatures as mounts to immortals.
They are often described to be in possession of a pearl which is their most priced possession although the utility or power of that pearl has never been explained. Although the exact capabilities of the pearl are not known, it's believed that the dragon is capable of guarding and keeping it incredibly valuable. This is compared to the likes of silver and gold that a dragon would typically keep.
