The Washington Capitals are looking for their number one netminder for next season. Vitek Vanecek and Ilya Samsonov were inconsistent throughout last season.

According to Elliotte Friedman the Washington Capitals have expressed interest in John Gibson

Gibson was 18-26-11 with a .904 save percentage, a 3.19 goals-against average, and a shutout in 56 games during the 2021-22 season.

Gibson has five years left on his contract with Anaheim. Gibson would be 6.4 mil against the salary cap

The Capitals need to swing for the fences and really go after that big name number one netminder.
