Aloha and welcome to the Sobriety Rocks Podcast, today we’re going to talk about Empathy, Compassion and Love
Eric Yuan said, “Empathy, humanity and support for each other is more important than revenue, than growth.”
I used to criticize, judge, and look down at people when I was homeless. Little did I realize I was really criticizing, judging, and looking down on myself. Thank goodness when I was brought to recovery, people treated me with a level of empathy and compassion I hadn’t known previously.
As I began recovering, I started treating new members, with the same empathy and compassion you showed me. As I continued to grow, my empathy and compassion grew and blossomed into genuine love for my fellows.
Through the years, people in recovery have shown me and my family enormous amounts of love, compassion, and empathy during some very challenging times. Now, thirty years later, my life’s purpose is to serve and show love, empathy, and compassion to everyone I encounter.
Thank you all for this gift!
As I look around, I see a lot of change, and a lot of people afraid of change. But, if you look back at any time in history, change is the one and only constant. Rather than fearing change, I see opportunity and transformation!
Opportunity and transformation are good. But it’s my job to continue taking spiritual action so I will embrace change and show empathy, compassion, and love to those I meet.
I believe we all have empathy, compassion, and love within us. I pray we have enough courage to take the action necessary so we can display it.
Have an amazing day and please, show some empathy, compassion, and love to those you meet on your journey.
We’ll close with a brief empathy meditation.
