Many of us raised in dysfunctional homes weren’t taught how to effectively deal with difficult, unpleasant, or dangerous situations. Instead of building character, to survive, we built our character defects.
We arrived in recovery with our defects flourishing. Full of fear, doubt, guilt, shame, anger, sadness, and humiliation. Not humiliation from what others said or did, but from what we had done and who we had become.
All these years later, life, with all its trials and tribulations, still happens. How I respond to those trials and tribulations defines my character. My peace and happiness lie in the quality of my integrity, the goodness of my actions, and the benefit I bring to others’ lives.
If you’re struggling with being entirely ready, humbly asking for help, or some other challenge. Don’t be discouraged! We’ve all been there.
Today’s as good a day as any to become entirely ready, humbly ask, or make a sincere attempt
We close with a brief fear and courage meditation.
