Bloom by Kenneith Oppel

Petra and Anaya have horrible allergies and they seem to get worse at the years go by. Seth was abandoned as a small child and has been in and out of foster homes his whole life.  But it turns out they all have something in common when a strange rainstorm happens around the world - delivering what appears to be some kind of plant life. The plants seem to make everyone sick, but them. What could possibly be going on?
