Episode 98: Grease (1978)

This week at The Film Club we're talking about Grease! This beloved musical classic tells the story of high schoolers Danny and Sandy who meet during summer vacation fall in love but are torn apart when Sandy has to return to her home country of Australia at the end of the summer. School begins and we follow Danny to Rydell High School where he's part of the T' Birds gang, the school has another gang called the Pink Ladies who are linked with the T' Birds. One of the Pink Ladies Frenchie befriends new student Sandy and takes her under her wing not knowing her relationship with Danny. The two lovers finally meet after a Football Rally and are excited to be reunited but things take a turn when Danny remembers he has a reputation to uphold and dating a nice girl wouldn't fly with his friends. Danny tries and fails multiple times to win Sandy back, and eventually Sandy decides that Danny is the one that she wants and tries to become the person he wants. Can Danny and Sandy reunite for good? Or will their relationship stay just a summer romance? Join us as we dive into the world of Grease.
