Harold Shipman, just another friendly family practitioner in England..... NOOOOOOT.
Harold Shipman is one of the most prolific serial killers in modern history. He was suspected by the undertaker who was seeing a high number of his patients with the same cause of death and in the same position. In 1998, one of Shipman's patients, Kathleen Grundy, who was an 81 year old active widow was found dead following a recent visit from Shipman. He advised the family an autopsy was not required but her daughter, who was a lawyer, found it super odd when another will was found forged stating Dr. Shipman should inherit the bulk of her estate.
The body was exhumed and it was concluded she passed from a morphine overdose. More evidence was found and a trial was set.
In October 1999, jurors found Harold Shipman guilty of 15 counts of murder and forging Kathleen Grundy's will. He recieved 15 life sentences.
Even though he was only convicted of 15 murders, they estimate he was probably responsible for 236 patients over a 24-year period.
Shipman was found on Jan 12, 2004 in his cell where he hanged himself. Supposedly Shipman's wife Primrose would get a £100,000, followed by 10,000 each year after if he died before the age of 60. His death was on the eve of his 58th birthday.
