EP 49: If the Industry Isn't Regulated, Why Become Certified?

The coaching industry currently isn't regulated - meaning there is no mom & dad, anybody can coach on anything. So why become Certified you ask?

To me, there are a ton of reasons to be Certified & everyone's reasoning will be different so here are the reasons I did + what being Certified can do for you & your business.

Why I Become Certified:

1. To further my education at the highest level to deliver at the highest level.
2. To have my own certification program (not required but I felt it was necessary)
3. Because I think it is important for Coaches to have a code of ethics/morals they follow as well as teach to other people.
4. Credibility - I don't take coaching lightly and I don't do it just for money. It's important that my clients know I am very serious about my own education as well as theirs.

What Being Certified Can do For You:

Do you have to be Certified to coach? Not currently.

Even the “accredited” schools in the industry aren't actually accredited - it's al made up by someone else. Again the industry isn't currently regulated.

A Certification is a completion symbol & how you uphold that is up to you. You can use it as a marketing tool or mark of distinction but it won't replace your integrity.
