21 {Andrea Bishop} Starting running and the challenges you’ll experience
This week’s episode is going to be a bit of a change of pace.
As we approach spring, many of us will be starting to think about getting moving and getting fit and often that means we might decide to go for a run.
But before you do up your laces, even a 5 km run can lead to injury and pain if not done properly, so today we’ll be talking to an expert to ensure you do things right.
I am very lucky to have the help of physiotherapist Andrea Bishop who has kindly offered to share her tips and advice for anyway who is thinking about starting to run.
In today’s episode Andrea shares:
- The challenges that new runners can face
- The meaning and importance of external and internal load
- Her advice for how to safely approach running training
Key Quotes
“Sleep is the number 1 biggest recover.’
“That point of when is the best time to call your physio, ideally it would be before you embark on this journey.”
“I think the biggest key is listening to your body and that sometimes takes a little practice.”
