One thing traveling for a month or more at a time, using a single backpack for all of my necessary items, is that we don't really need all that much. It's so easy in our day to day environments - at home, at work, with friends - to think that we NEED certain items in our lives. We see other people's consumption, and feel like we NEED to keep up.
But there's a difference between needing...and wanting.
I'm not a minimalist by any stretch of the imagination. However, it's important in life to distill things down to what truly is necessary, instead of what is superfluous. What is important versus extraneous. In this episode, we look at the question of "what do you really need?" and explore some strategies to get down to the essence of what's truly necessary physically and psychologically.
