The Yankees started the week sweeping their mini Subway Series with the Mets, including beating Max Scherzer on Monday night. They followed that with two wins in Oakland to extend their winning streak to five. That’s when the offense vanished and the Yankees had to settle for an extremely disappointing split in Oakland. Nestor hit in the IL with a groin injury. Chapman got an infection in his leg from a bad tattoo. Greg Weissert had possibly the worst MLB debut ever by a reliever, but bounced back nicely on Sunday.
