But the country’s leader, Narendra Modi, is playing things close to his vest.
Modi has been courted by both the United States and Russia, refusing to commit to a full-scale alliance with either.
Today, we’re talking about India at least in part because of that independence and the impact it is having on events in Ukraine and the rest of the world.
Joining us is Ayesha Ray. Ray is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at King's College, Pennsylvania, and is an expert on India’s place in the world.
