Episode 186 - The Deep Chronicler of Israeli Life: A Conversation with Matti Friedman
ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Matti Friedman went to Israel "for a year" at age 17, and never left. His subsequent writing in the three decades since has been breathtaking in its prose and penetrating in its analysis of Jewish and Israeli life. With a penchant for unearthing the unsung story - those "marginal" tales with broad implications - he has authored four books and dozens of long-form articles in The Atlantic, Tablet and many other prestigious forums.
Matti's latest work, Who By Fire, chronicles the iconic musician Leonard Cohen and his relationship to the country during the dire period of the 1973 Yom Kippur War.
