In this episode of Creative Guts, co-hosts Laura Harper Lake and Sarah Wrightsman sit down with Helen Leavitt, owner of Auspicious Brew, the first licensed kombucha brewery in New Hampshire! Behind Helen’s drive to open Auspicious Brew was an interest in local food systems and herbalism. She expresses her creativity by experimenting with different flowers, recipes, and ingredients. Auspicious Brew offers a combination of tried and true flavors — important for distribution — and experimental, limited-run flavors. In this episode, you’ll hear the story behind the name, the flavors, and the future of the cozy, welcoming space. Of course, we also give plenty of kudos to Laura who happened to have designed the logo and the labels!
If you’re local to the New Hampshire seacoast, you can visit the tasting room in downtown Dover. The kombucha at Auspicious Brew is made by local people using local ingredients. If there is one word to describe Auspicious Brew, it’s local.
