Her dissertation theorizes patient narratives on social media as a form of technical and technological expertise. Her latest work appears in Intercom and Programmatic Perspectives and is forthcoming from the Journal of Multimodal Rhetorics and the 2022 IEEE ProComm proceedings. Elena currently teaches writing in the disciplines courses in the College of Information and Computer Sciences at UMass and works as a research writer at Untold Content, an innovation storytelling firm.
