Episode 106: Starman (1984)

This week at The Film Club we're talking about a scifi romantic drama and also a really underrated film, Starman. Starman tells the story of widow Jenny Hayden who is struggling with the death of her husband when suddenly an extraterrestrial lands not to far from her home and clones the body of her late husband. Jenny can't believe her eyes when she first sees the reincarnation of her late husband Scott but soon she learns this is not her husband and she's dealing with something out of this world. Starman has three days to get back to his rendezvous point and enlists Jenny Hayden to escort him from Wisconsin her home state to Arizona where his home ship is picking him up. Jenny Hayden makes many attempts to escape Starman and with the police on the hunt for the pair Jenny becomes less afraid of Starman, she observes how gentle he really is. This three day race to Arizona sparks a love that these two beings were not expecting. Can Starman and Jenny Hayden escape the Government and live happily ever after? Or will the Government capture the pair? Join us as we dive into the world of Starman.
