Insomnia (2002), Christopher Nolan Part 3 of 4
Welcome to Movie Time Machine, where this week in 2002, your hosts need some help with their sleep. Host Jamie disappeared in a remote northern town, and it’s up to Chad, James, Casey and Kris to figure out his fate. Or, they’ll probably just discuss the movie Insomnia and wait to see if he turns up later. Join us!
Jamie’s Thoughts: Apart from being a compelling thriller, I love Insomnia because it shows Nolan’s range. Not unlike David Fincher breaking his norm and directing Panic Room, Insomnia is Nolan’s most restrained film, and arguably the most straightforward narrative of any of his movies. I love thinking about the complexities of dreams and space-time, but not every Friday evening. Sometimes it’s nice to just solve a mystery. Finally, Robin Williams is utterly haunting in his role, putting a finer point on his range as an actor. I miss him dearly.
