Nurturing nitrogen: How to get the most out of your nitrogen
Maurie Street and his family run "Huanita", east of Dubbo, near Wongarbon. They focus on dryland winter cropping, whilst Maurie works full-time as the GEO of GOA, the Grains Orana Alliance. GOA is a grower-driven research and development organisation based in the Central West, which runs via funding from the Grain Research and Development Corporation.
In this episode, Maurie shares what he believes the significant challenges will be for the industry going forward. He touches on the difficulties of maintaining nitrogen levels and managing the price of nitrogen in this market. Maurie also shares some practical ways to increase nitrogen efficiency in your soil and what to be aware of to ensure you're getting the most out of your nitrogen.
Local Land Services cropping advisor, Tim Bartimote caught up with Maurie by the fire on a very wet, rainy morning at "Huanita".
This episode is part two of our conversation with Maurie. Check out our last episode for part one, where Maurie explains why he places such importance on nitrogen in his soil.
