Jeff Mogavero on Dominating UTMB and Pushing Through Adversity
When it comes to mountain races, one race stands out above them all: the legendary UTMB starting in Chamonix, France. Covering 107 miles and 32,000+ ft of climbing, it challenges even the best of the best runners in the sport.
And today, we chat with the man who placed 16th in the legendary race in his first (but certainly not his last) finish at UTMB: Jeff Mogavero!
Jeff is a professional ultra runner for HOKA, who has nabbed tons of podium finishes at epic races such as Run Rabbit Run and the Broken Arrow 52k. He is also a running coach with Alpine Running Guides, who has helped tons of runners achieve their biggest goals. He also holds the FKT for the Teton Crest Trail, which is one of the most epic long-distance trails in the world.
Jeff joins us in this episode coming off of his epic finish at UTMB, and describes his incredible race in detail; including how he pushed through massive adversity to not only finish the race, but to also finish in the top 20.
We also discuss his awesome early adventures into the world of ultrarunning, what his training looked like going into UTMB, and how he was able to build massive belief in himself as a runner to accomplish his biggest goals.
Huge thank you to Jeff for making this happen!
