On this episode of The Shetler Show podcast, pro skater Anthony Shetler interviews the winners from the 1st annual New England Am contest, “It’s only going to get better.”
Kicking off the show, Anthony takes a moment to highlight a dream he has had over the last two years. To put together and host his own amateur skateboard contest in New England. Held in Taunton, MA at the 30,000 sq ft indoor skate park known as Skaters Edge. Featuring well known guest judges and local legends such as Donny Barley, Zered Bassett, Brandon Westgate and Nick Dompierre. As well as over 24 different skate shops from the east coast got together to be apart of this awesome event!
Anthony talks to the guys about what the contest was like and how they felt about the style and format of the event. Starting with Cameron Kilduff, the 2nd place winner in the 15 and over division, he states “It was the biggest contest I’ve ever been to... So sick... it was wild!” Dewey Lamarre drops a bomb, “I had to sign up and leave after an hour…” The guys had no idea and were so stoked to know he won his division with no warm up. Nick Barthe, says “I was pretty scared… It hit me when I woke up, Damn I have to skate this today!”
