keeping it REAL with Jay Scott

Many of you have heard "warm up" before you do anything physical. Priming involves a more in depth process than just getting your blood flowing. It involves getting your central nervous system (CNS) activated to recruit maximum muscle fiber. Also it involves full-range of motion in your chosen area of movement. Its important because many people operate in partial-ranges of motion. Which in turn creates disfunction and PAIN issues.
My example is weight lifting in this episode. BUT you can prime before any physical activity. If you're about to go running... well then logically bodyweight lunges as deep as possible would get all leg muscles firing, as well as warm you up, and get the CNS firing. Plus it stretches the muscles involved in running. Why & how many you should do are all discussed during this episode. Every physical movement has a logical priming movement that can help you get the CNS, blood flow, flexibility, & more ready for action as well as possibly reversing some issues with pain because of muscular imbalances.
