This week on #TubtaNabadda, we recognise the values of the culture of peace, tolerance and understanding marking the annual International Day of Non-Violence celebrated on 2 October.
In the first interview, Mohamud Sidow, Director of the Defectors Rehabilitation Programme for South West State, talks about the life-changing opportunities the programme brings to disengaged combatants such as vocational training turning them into skilled workers and increasing their chances of reintegration into communities. He makes an argument that these young people are positive contributors to society after disengagement and rehabilitation.
We also interview Ahmed Mohamed Abdi, Security Liaison Officer at the Ministry of Internal Security South West State, who takes the listeners beyond the significance of the rehabilitation programme and talks about what needs to be done to prevent young people from engaging in violent activities.
The programme is presented in Somali by Ali Gutale and Fathi Mohamed.
