Kid Line impresses but Rangers fall to Devils in lackluster 5-2 loss

The Rangers can’t find that fifth gear in a 5-2 preseason loss to the Devils. Sammy Blais establishes a physical tone, nearly scores and gets a chance to play with Mika Zibanejad in his first hockey game in nearly a calendar year! Rangers cut 19, and the most notable names are arguably Matthew Robertson, Bobby Trivigno and Hunter Skinner. Was Robertson ever a serious candidate for the sixth defenseman spot, and will we see him with the Rangers this season?? One minor concern from last night’s game, even if it is the preseason. Chris Kreider and Alexis Lafreniere both score shorthanded! Lafreniere and Kaapo Kakko impress on the penalty kill. Why I owe an apology to Ryan Lindgren!
