The battle for voting rights continues in Texas as the state adds two new congressional seats and redraws its congressional maps. Civil rights groups and democratic state lawmakers say the new congressional maps were drawn to dilute the vote of residents of color giving white and likely republican candidates an advantage. Meanwhile Texas republicans say the maps were drawn “blind to race.” Senate Republicans on Wednesday filibustered a bill which would have overhauled how congressional districts are drawn.
The FBI believes it has recovered items belonging to Brian Laundrie as well as human remains in a Florida state park. Family of Laundrie are yet to comment as they await forensic identification of the found remains. The discovery comes 37 days after Laundrie, the fiancé of Gabby Petito, was reportedly last seen by his parents.
