Kamala Harris Becomes First Woman Of Color On A Major Ticket

Biden picks Sen. Kamala Harris as running mate for the 2020 presidential election. Harris is now the first woman of color to be put on a major ticket. Biden and Harris are to appear for the first time as the Democratic ticket tomorrow. Harris has been a United States senator since 2017 and was previously California attorney general.

Biden says he first met Harris through his son, Beau: "I thought a lot about that as I made this decision." A Biden official said that Biden called Kamala Harris to offer her the vice president job 90 minutes before the announcement.

Trump responds to Biden choosing Harris as running mate. Trump dodges questions on past donations to Sen. Harris. Trump calls Harris "nasty" and "disrespectful" after Biden named her for the vice president position. Financial filings show that Trump donated $6,000 to Kamala Harris' campaign for attorney general. Trump said he is "surprised" that Biden picked Harris as running mare because she was "very, very nasty" to him.
