Trump Admits Coronavirus WIll Get Worse Before It Gets Better
Trump admits that the coronavirus crisis will probably get worse before it gets better. But, Trump fails to lay out a plan to fix the coronavirus crisis. Trump also says that he now has "no problem" wearing a mask despite "pleading" from the White House aides for refusing to wear one for months. Trump now urges Americans to wear masks, but often doesn't wear one himself and says, "I mean I carry the mask." Trump changes his tone and asks "everybody" to wear a mask "whether you like the mask or not, they have an impact."
Trump resumes the coronavirus briefing but without top doctors. Dr. Fauci says, "I was not invited." Representative Cheney reiterates support for Dr. Fauci after criticism from fellow GOP members.
Trump still says that the "virus will disappear" even as the United States has seen an increase of one million new cases in 17 days. A CDC study finds that the actual number of coronavirus cases in the United States may be up to 24 times higher in some places, greater than thought. The number of cases could be much higher in many regions, including New York, Minnesota and South Florida.
Florida sees hospitalizations increase in 37 percent in 12 days amid surge in cases. More than 50 hospitals have run out of the ICU beds.
