Anna Mears has been taken to a cabin out in the woods of Minnesota. Her father, Nathaniel, a pious man who thinks everything is a sin, brought her to the cabin because she was in love with a boy and things got a little intimate. How intimate? 9 months intimate. With a newborn she's trying to conceal from her father, Anna starts to send messages via the local creek for help. And Laura is the one to answer the call. As the messages get more desperate Charles and Laura head out to try and find the source but what they find is an abandoned baby. Bringing the child back to Walnut Grove, Laura takes up the mantle of Foster Mom and very quickly starts to get attached to the infant. Charles heads out to find more information about the mother in a nearby village where he meets the baby's father. Together they set out the find Anna. However, they are spotted by Anna's father who races back to the cabin to purify himself and Anna with fire. The smoke from the fire leads Charles and Anna's baby Daddy directly to Anna. The young couple are reunited, Nathaniel is left alone, Charles doesn't have to be a grandfather just yet and Laura learns what it's like to love a baby. Why didn't Anna bother to ever sign her name? Is Harriet Oleson going to have the human reproduction talk with Willie soon? How is it that Boswell is called a village and Walnut Grove a town?
