Discipleship Handbook Week 5 - The Gospel of God's Grace
Last week we discussed the problem of sin and what that does to separate us from God. The good news is that, through Jesus' death on the cross, we as Christians get to experience grace. As Romans 5:8 says, “God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Where we could never get back to God on our own, God made a way.
The Gospel is the good news that Jesus – God the Son, fully God and fully Man, the long-awaited and promised Messiah – died on the cross to pay the price for our sins so that we might be reconciled to right relationship with Him – completely forgiven, set free from the penalty and power of sin, and given a new heart that can turn away from sin and enjoy the presence of God. He was raised from the dead on the third day, defeating death, sin, and Satan, so that all who believe in Him and call on His name shall be saved (John 3:16, Romans 10:13). We are saved by grace through faith in Christ.
This week on "Table Forty," Matt and Leslee move on to Week 5 of the "Discipleship Handbook," a 10-week plan from The Increase that examines some of the most important topics encompassing what it looks like to be a disciple of Jesus. This week they dive into the Gospel of God's Grace.
