The Washington Capitals final roster takes shape as the Caps prepare for the Bruins Wednesday.
In this edition of Locked on Capitals Dan is joined by Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington as we talk about the Capitals roster and who should be playing in game one Wednesday versus the Bruins. Johansen, along with Henrik Borgstrom, Axel Jonsson-Fjallby and Brett Leason, went on waivers after practice. The news came in today that On Monday, the Winnipeg Jets claimed AJF, while the Anaheim Ducks obtained Leason off waivers.
Later in the show we talk about the Capitals defense and the decisions they will have to make next summer. The Caps will have to make some decisions on their futures when the year is up. Orlov, Jensen, Gustafsson and van Riemsdyk are all slated to hit free agency next summer, opening up $9.35 million in cap space but leaving plenty of questions about the state of the blue line.
In the following segment the talk about the breakout preseason for Dylan Strome and Aliaksei Protas. They then talk about the new goalie tandem in DC and to end the show they talk about Alex Ovechkin as he chases down Gordie Howe and then eventually Wayne Gretzky for most all time goals
