It was the diet du jour between 2013 and 2016 – but experts have since warned that ‘clean eating’ was far from healthy. A number of young women, including Medical Minefield presenter Eve, have spoken about the role they feel the trend played in the development of their eating disorders. Today, the social media influencers who drove the lifestyle are making great efforts to distance themselves from their past advice. But shall we let them? Or now, with the benefit of hindsight, is it time for an honest admission of the repercussions of the diet information they peddled? The team speak with dietician Ursula Philpott, who saw the fall-out of the clean eating trend in her eating disorder clinic, and one young woman who says the trend triggered her disordered eating.
