We jump into the great book of Exodus today with chapters 1-3 and Psalm 8. These texts explore the fears of Pharaoh, the civil disobedience of Shiphrah and Puah, the miraculous upbringing of Moses, his deep sense of justice, his calling by God, the revelation of the mysterious divine name, and the promise of deliverance.

As the Psalmist ponders today, what are humans that God is mindful of them? These texts celebrate that the LORD's name is majestic over all the earth, but God's ear is attuned to the cries of his people.
